The Mediterranean Fair of Healthy Food
Spring can start a little earlier with one of the tastiest regional events – the Mediterranean Fair of Healthy Food, Medicinal Herbs and Green Entrepreneurship, which will be held in Dubrovnik between 21st and 24th March 2020. Its main goal is to inform the people about the benefits and advantages of organic food and medicinal herbs and raise awareness of the adverse effects the consumption of synthetic food may have over the body.
The festival includes engaging culinary workshops dedicated to the different ways of healthy food preparation, as well as helpful and informative lectures. It is also a great chance to meet small producers from the rural parts of the country, whose main aim is to provide people with quality and healthy organic foods.
Shakespeare Festival
One of the most anticipated events is the Dubrovnik Shakespeare Festival, which will be held in the period between the end of April and May 2020. The festival revolves not only around Shakespeare’s work but also popularizes contemporary theatre and arts.
The Aklapela festival
The unique atmosphere of the Old Town is also the perfect setting for the Aklapela festival, dedicated to the traditional Croatian “klapa” singing. The performances are quite emotional and inspiring because they have to express the beauty of the lyrics and melody without the help of a musical accompaniment. The festival will take place between 5th and 7th April 2020, and visitors will have the chance to listen to some of the best vocal groups from the region of Dubrovnik and other parts of the country as well.
Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra Events
If you love listening to classical music, you may enjoy visiting some of the concerts held regularly at the Atrium of the Rector’s palace during May and June. It is famous for its exceptional acoustics, and some of the most recommended performances that you could relish during the spring months are those of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra.
International Labor Day
On 1st May, the town celebrates the International Labor Day. It attracts many local and foreign visitors, eager to witness the processions and parades that take place down the Old Town’s most famous street – Stradun. One of the main events for the day is the live performance of the traditional Dubrovnik Brass Band in front of St Blaise’s Church.
